Mama Lu Homes

Why? After losing my 3rd job in the insurance industry due to being laid off, I began applying for similar jobs. I would get calls to interview with my vast experience and knowledge of the industry, but if I am fully honest, I somehow ended up in insurance over 18 years ago & it just isn’t me! Although I love the marketing side, talking to customers & helping people, the actual insurance part to me was well….lets say lackluster! I always wanted to learn to invest in real estate or maybe flip houses. But being the type of person that wants to understand most aspects of a business, I decided to pursue my real estate license, while at the same time taking in as much knowledge about house hacking and investing as I could possibly consume. In summer of 2023, Mama Lu Homes was born. 

The name Mama Lu.

 My children call me Mama. Friends of my children call me Mama. 

My full name, Lura, had been shortened to Lu by my Aunt or LuLu by cousins. When I first shared the vision of my investing journey with close friends in the Spanish community & we discussed how my name really was not the typical “Laura” or “Lawra” in Spanish, it was more of a “Lulu” sound. It dawned on me that helping people in my specific community, which happens to be a large percentage of Spanish speaking families, Lu was the perfect fit!

The goal of Mama Lu Homes is to provide affordable  homes to the community available to rent & in some cases purchase. We especially have a heart for women seeking exit from abusive relationships, transitional housing for those leaving programming for homelessness or abuse & needing a fresh start. After all, that is where we began.
